The Optics: The Sky-Watcher Explorer-150P Newtonian Telescope is an excellent choice for the aspiring astronomer as well as the interested beginner. With its large 150 mm aperture combined with the superb parabolic optics, this telescope is a powerful all-rounder with excellent performance for observing the moon, planets, nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. The mount: The high-quality Sky-Watcher EQ3-2 mount gets high praise from experienced observers. This sturdy mount offers high precision and stability along with the ability to expand further for the experienced astronomer. The mount sits on a large, adjustable aluminum tripod with a shelf. A spirit level allows the mount to be leveled quickly and accurately. Fine movement knobs allow continuous manual tracking of celestial objects. The mount includes 360° tracking gears in both axes (RA and DEC). Metal graduated circles allow objects to be set quickly using celestial coordinates. A polar finder scope is available as an option for more accurate polar alignment. The mount can be optionally retrofitted with motorized tracking in right ascension or in both axes or with a SynScan GoTo control.
