The ASI585MC Pro is the new ZWO deep-sky camera based on the 4k SONY CMOS sensor with a 1/1.2″ format and 2.9μm pixels. It has a super high sensitivity and a high resolution of 3840*2160 (8.29MP in total). It is also characterized by high transfer speeds – in high-speed mode, the fast frame rate can reach 47 frames per second at full resolution!
As an entry-level DSO camera, it offers the great advantage of high cost efficiency.
Thanks to STARVIS 2 technology, the ASI585MC Pro offers even better imaging performance compared to other cooled cameras. Its high frame rate makes it suitable not only for DSO photography, but also for solar, lunar and planetary photography.
Large Full Well Capacity
The back-illuminated structure improves the full-well capacity of the camera. Even with unbinned 2.9μm pixels, the ASI585MC Pro has a full-well capacity of 40ke-, almost three times that of the last generation IMX485 sensor. A larger full-well capacity provides the camera with higher light-gathering efficiency, can effectively prevent overexposure of the highlight area and improve the signal-to-noise ratio.
Zero Amp Glow
The ASI585MC Pro shows extremely clean dark images without amplifier glow! No matter how long the exposure and how high the gain value, you can easily get clean and smooth astro images!
Note: This function is implemented directly at hardware level and does not require software control.
Two-stage TEC cooling
Thanks to the two-stage TEC cooling, the ASI585MC Pro can reduce the temperature of the CMOS sensor to more than 35 degrees Celsius below the ambient temperature, which can significantly reduce the generation of dark current and sensor noise even with longer exposure times.
*The Delta T 35℃ was tested at an ambient temperature of 30℃. It may decrease if the cooling system is in operation for a longer period of time. When the ambient temperature drops, the delta T also drops.
Low readout noise, high dynamic range
The camera has a built-in HCG mode, which can effectively reduce the readout noise at high gain and allows the camera to maintain the same high dynamic range as at low gain.
When the gain reaches 252, the HCG mode is automatically switched on and the dynamic range reaches a value close to 11 bits. In this case, the readout noise can be up to 0.7e.
