The telescope optics: The Skywatcher Evostar DS-Pro telescope series has the same premium optics as our – meanwhile – legendary Equinox ED apochromatic refractors, which, thanks to their obstruction-free optics, produce diffraction patterns like textbooks. They have the sharpest image and offer the highest quality of imaging. These high-end telescopes all have a doublet lens. One element is made of high quality extra-low dispersion (ED) glass. This virtually eliminates chromatic aberration to deliver true color reproduction. Top quality glass is used for the crown glass element. State-of-the-art dielectric coating of each air-glass lens surface to guarantee optimal light output, achieving approximately 99.5% light transmission with the anti-reflective metallic coating. Skywatcher’s own “Metallic High Transmission Coating” (MHC) is one of the best in its field. Mount: Skywatcher offers a simple solution for hobby astronomers who want to put their telescope on a comfortable computer-controlled mount, but do not yet want to use a heavy HEQ5 or EQ6 mount. The EQ5 Pro SynScanTM mount uses the same GoTo system used in the HEQ5 and EQ6 Pro SynScanTM mount. It allows the user to set any object or start a guided tour of the night sky with just a push of a button. The extensive database contains over 42,900 objects in the night sky. The EQ5 Pro SynScanTM mount is the perfect instrument for the beginner with a slightly larger telescope in visual observation or photography to enjoy the new hobby with minimal setup effort without already being perfectly familiar with the sky.
