The optics: Sky-Watcher Startravel telescopes are 2-element, air-spaced achromatic refractors, perfect for wide-field observation of comets, star fields, star clusters, nebulae, bright galaxies and planets, the moon and the sun (with safe, suitable filters) as well as the Nature observation during the day using an Amici prism (optionally available). This wide-field telescope with its short tube can also be used with a fixed aperture for astrophotography or terrestrial photography. Its fast focal ratio makes it ideal for lunar and solar eclipse photography as well as nature photography. The mount: The very stable Sky-Watcher EQ5 equatorial mount offers excellent precision and stability and also provides the experienced astronomer with many useful functions. The mount rests on a large, adjustable tripod with stainless steel legs and tray for accessories. It is equipped with a spirit level for leveling and a pole height adjustment with a micrometer scale as well as an azimuth adjustment for pole adjustment. Furthermore, it has engraved graduated circles and control buttons for manual tracking. A polar finder scope is available as an option for precise alignment with the celestial pole. The mount can also optionally be retrofitted with a tracking in RA or both axes and a SynScan GoTo control.
