The telescope optics: The new Skywatcher Explorer-130PDS Newtonian Reflector telescope includes the same excellent optics as the Explorer-130P Black Diamond series, but with two key improvements. A 10:1 gear reduction focuser was used for greater focusing precision, and the tube was slightly shortened to improve performance in primary focus photography. Even better performance can be achieved when using the Skywatcher Newtonian coma corrector (No. 20233) for both visual astronomical observation and photography. Telescope mount: Skywatcher offers a simple solution for amateur astronomers who want to place their small telescope on a convenient computer-controlled mount, but do not want to use a heavy HEQ5 or EQ6 mount. The EQ3 Pro SynScanTM mount uses the same GoTo system used in the HEQ5 and EQ6 Pro SynScanTM mount. It allows the user to set any object or start a guided tour of the night sky with just a push of a button. The extensive database contains over 42,900 objects in the night sky. The EQ3 Pro SynScanTM mount is the perfect instrument for beginners in visual observation or photography to enjoy the new hobby with minimal setup effort and without already knowing the sky perfectly. The Skywatcher mount comes with an aluminum tripod.
