Double stack performance with a single etalon!
The very impressive Sky-Watcher Heliostar-76Hα is a safe solar telescope for observing active solar prominences and other solar details in the H-alpha band with the exceptionally low bandwidth of only 0.5 Angstroms or less.
Looking at the Sun with such a narrow H-alpha bandwidth will reward you with exciting, awe-inspiring real-time observations of our nearest star in all its fiery glory. Its seething surface reveals great details such as solar flares, prominences, spicules, granulation or sunspots and much more!
The Heliostar-76Hα uses different technologies to protect your eye during observation, including a coating against thermal infrared radiation, a special filter to block heat and a filter to block UV light and prevent stray light that interferes with observation. It uses a combination of front and rear filters that only allows the passage of monochromatic light of wavelength 656.28 nanometers emitted by the hydrogen atoms, while blocking all other wavelengths. This allows the observation of just active prominences in the H-alpha band.
Sky-Watcher’s etalon technology allows the Heliostar-76Hα to achieve a bandwidth of only 0.5 angstroms without the costly and complex use of a second etalon to achieve the same high performance. This allows the observer to obtain detailed images of the sun “out of the box” at no additional cost.
The Heliostar-76Hα conforms to and meets the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2:2015 (filters for direct observation of the sun). Always use the telescope according to the instructions and take the utmost care when observing the sun!
